Guiding young readers in the right direction
At our practice, we specialize in helping young learners become skilled, confident readers.
We provide explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Each student begins with an assessment so we can identify strengths and areas for growth. Throughout instruction, we continue to assess and use the results to tailor lessons to meet each child’s specific needs.
Our approach is intentional, structured, and responsive. We believe progress happens when instruction is targeted and informed by data — and when families are partners in the process. We provide updates, clear communication, and actionable insights about our students’ growth.
Many young readers need more support than what the classroom alone can provide. In a busy classroom, it’s easy for gaps in reading skills to go unnoticed. When children are given standard reading materials that don’t match their current level, they often struggle and become frustrated—making it even harder to connect with reading. You might notice your child guessing at words or relying heavily on pictures instead of decoding.
What children need is explicit, targeted instruction that builds on what they already know. With the right materials and guidance, each step feels manageable and progress becomes possible.
grow their confidence
Early readers should only be asked to read material with spelling patterns they know. If they’re asked to read unknown spelling patterns it causes frustration and also creates a habit of guessing.
increase retention
Early readers require repetition to build essential skills, but repetition alone can quickly become monotonous and lead to a loss of focus. The key is to present the material in a variety of engaging ways—reinforcing learning while keeping students motivated and attentive.
understand your child’s needs
Our informal assessments give a clear picture of where a child needs support. We target our lessons toward each student’s needs and keep you informed at every step.
